Our darling Zoe Ann Sykes, 23, of Washington, Missouri and Broadway, North Carolina, left us on April 26, 2024. Zoe leaves behind many loving family and friends who will miss her so dearly.
Zoe was born on March 27, 2001, in Washington, Missouri, where she was a 2019 graduate of Washington High School. Following graduation, she moved to North Carolina to pursue her education. Always caring for others, it seemed fitting that she found her calling in healthcare.
Zoe deeply loved Missouri and North Carolina, and with family and friends across both states, she considered herself to have two homes.
One of the most cherished parts of Zoe’s life was her role as aunt to five-year-old Benji. He brought her joy, and to him, she was extraordinary. Zoe was a dog lover and had a passion for German Shepherds, especially her own, beloved Remington.
Zoe was profoundly empathetic, always putting others first, and always with smile—one that could lift the room. She loved music, playing piano and guitar, dancing and cruising in her Jeep. She lived 23 vibrant years with admirable tenacity and was a bright light to everyone around her. She was a loyal friend and a wonderful daughter, sister and granddaughter.
Zoe is survived by her father Jon Sykes, her mother Michele DeRousse (Bill Stahlhuth), brother Trevor Beuke, nephew Benjamin Beuke-Candrl, grandparents, Fred and Carolyn Sykes, Judy DeRousse and many others, aunts, uncle and other friends and family who will feel her loss from their lives deeply.
Celebrations of life to honor Zoe’s short but beautiful time here will be held in Missouri and North Carolina at a later date.
