Valerie Grey Chaffin

Burlington, North Carolina - Valerie Grey Chaffin, aged 67, passed on Tuesday, May 14th, 2024 while surrounded by family in the home she loved in Burlington, NC. Valerie was born December 4th, 1956 in Raleigh, NC to the late Leonidas Martin Chaffin III and Mary Spicer Chaffin. She was the oldest of three children, one of whom preceded her in death (Leonidas Martin Chaffin IV).

Valerie was a lifelong student and educator. Having been a teacher, paralegal, and attorney, she also served as Executive Director for Second Chance (Animal Rescue) and District Administrator for Guardian ad Litem in Alamance County, NC.

Valerie was an enthusiastic traveler, avid sports fan, former Raleigh Ringer and lover of piano. Valerie had a close relationship with the Lord and educated others in her faith through Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and her former Life Group.

Valerie will be fondly remembered by her sister, Sandra Chaffin West, and nieces, Julianne West, Mary West Sanders and Shelby West King, and her great-nephew, Jasper King and numerous cousins.

A graveside service will be held 12pm Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Harnett Memorial Park in Lillington, NC.
