Thomas (Tom) Joseph Sullivan, 47, of Lillington, North Carolina passed away Saturday, February 11th, 2023.
His family is deeply saddened by Tom’s sudden death. He is predeceased by his father, Barry Sullivan, and survived by his mother Linda; his wife Britton Sullivan, his beloved children Taylor, McKenna, Avery and Rylan, brothers Barry Sullivan, Patrick Sullivan, and sisters Therese Bernardo and Maryanne Gorham, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Tom was born at Camp LeJeune on July 24, 1975 and grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, graduating from Frankford High School and attending York College for a period of time. Joining the U.S. Army in 1996, Tom began his military career serving in the prestigious Old Guard at Arlington National Cemetery. He later transitioned into military intelligence where he became a highly decorated linguist and interrogator. He served numerous deployments.
After many years serving his country, Tom retired from the military in 2017. He continued working on Fort Bragg as an Army Special Forces Management Analyst for USASOC Force Modernization Center until his passing. All who knew Tom (aka Sully) know the humor and intelligence that he possessed. These qualities and many others made him one of a kind. He was greatly loved and will be missed by many.
A memorial service will be held in his honor on Friday, February 17th, 2023 at O’Quinn Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home in Lillington, NC. Visitors will be received beginning at 3pm followed by a service at 4pm. The family will hold a reception at their home following the service. Final burial will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
