Thomas Harvey Baker

Thomas Harvey Baker, 82, of Lillington, passed away, Saturday, May 27, 2023 at his home in Lillington, NC. 

Thomas was born December 9, 1940 in Cumberland County to the late Wilbert and Gertrude Baker.  He was a graduate of Pembroke University and worked as a programmer and manager for IBM, retiring with over 27 years of service. He had many hobbies including golf, motorcycle adventures, building houses, and buying & selling cars. He enjoyed tinkering and fixing things and was always looking for a bargain. His greatest love was his grandchildren. Thomas was a member of Buies Creek First Baptist Church.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lucy Butler Baker; daughter, Lynn Knisley (James); son, Thomas Scott Baker (Kim); grandchildren, Jessica, Grace, Samantha, Lilah, and Thomas.

He was preceded in death by his brother, James “Frank” Franklin Baker. Other surviving family include sister in law, Joan Baker; several nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held Friday, June 2, 2023 at 2:00 at Buies Creek First Baptist Church, 118 Main St., Buies Creek, NC 27506. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
