Tammy Johnson, a radiant soul who filled the lives of those around her with love, kindness, and inspiration, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025, at the age of 59. Born on April 16, 1965, to Joe and Janet Boone of Fuquay Varina; Tammy lived a life defined by her fierce love, unwavering loyalty, and a gentle spirit that touched everyone she met.
Tammy’s beauty—both physical and spiritual—shone brightly, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. With a creative mind, and an extraordinary ability to judge character, Tammy had a gift for uplifting others. She held high expectations, not as a burden, but as a challenge. She inspired those around her, instilling confidence and positivity wherever she went.
A true friend and a lover of life, Tammy found joy in many passions: caring for her animals who adored her in return, planning unforgettable parties and events, and embarking on home renovations and design projects that showcased her impeccable taste and vision. Her love for travel and the beach brought her endless delight, as she sought out new adventures and memories with family.
Tammy was a devoted wife of 41 years to her husband Dan Johnson, and a loving mother and cherished Nana, placing her family at the heart of everything she did. In addition to her parents and husband, she leaves behind her beloved daughters, Brooke (Levi) Granger, Brittney (Jason) Lee, and Brandi (Brett) Vescovi, as well as five adored grandchildren (Payton, Colton, Sunnie, Beck, & Maverick) who brought her immeasurable joy. She is also survived by her sisters Brenda (Rusty) Furtick and Sandra (Steve) Wester.
Tammy shared her cancer journey to bring awareness of the silent but aggressive nature of melanoma, and to encourage everyone to get checked. Don’t put it off. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Melanoma Research Foundation –https://donate.melanoma.org
Tammy’s legacy is one of love, strength, and kindness. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her light will continue to shine in the hearts of those she nurtured and inspired.
