Steve Gregory of Buies Creek, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026, at UNC Rex Heart Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.

He was born October 31, 1948 to the late Aldine and Howard Gregory. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Carvel Gregory and Joe Gregory; sisters, Betty Jean Coates and Gayle Spence; sister-in-law, Judy Gregory; brother-in-law, Demery Austin; niece, Kathy Braswell; and nephew, Walt Gregory.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cecilia “Seeky” Wilkins Gregory, and their Westie, “Lily”; his sister, Frances Austin; his sister-in-law, Gisela Gregory; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Steve was a graduate of Buies Creek High School and Campbell University. He dedicated over 40 years of service as a Financial Examiner with the North Carolina Department of Insurance and Regulatory Insurance Services of Delaware. He also honorably served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves.

He enjoyed playing golf and spending time outdoors mowing and tending to his yard. He was a member of Cape Fear Golf Club, where he was known for organizing tee times and keeping the group connected. He loved watching television, both live and recorded, and faithfully kept up with his favorite series. He also had a special fondness for his GMC pickup trucks. Above all, he cherished his faith, his family, and his many friendships.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Pleasant Union Christian Church in Lillington, North Carolina. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Memorials in his memory may be made to Pleasant Union Christian Church or to a charity of your choice.
