Stephen Lynn Mason

Stephen Lynn Mason, 68, of Lillington, NC, passed away, December 7, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.  He was born in Lee County on December 13, 1956 to the late Roy Vallon Mason and Peggy Mills Mason.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Mason Phillips.

Stephen was a 1976 graduate of Benhaven High School.  He worked as an industrial mechanic for Red Cap in Lillington.  Stephen enjoyed playing golf, poker, pool, and spending time with his family.   

Stephen is survived by his wife of 33 years, Rene Mason; daughter, Jennifer Lynn Gariepy (Drew Grant); son, Tyler Stephen Mason; brothers, Brian Mason (Pam), and Craig Mason (Pam); and many nephews, cousins, and extended family.     

A celebration of life gathering will be held 6pm – 8pm Friday, December 12, 2025 at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home, 1310 S. Main Street, Lillington, NC, and other times at the home of Billy and Judy Wimberly, 3204 Neill’s Creek Rd., Lillington, NC 27546.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Liberty Home Care Hospice,105 Hunt Valley Drive, Dunn, NC 28334.
