Sharon "Gail" Faircloth Champion

Sharon "Gail" Faircloth Champion, age 78, went home to be with her Lord peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on February 1, 2026. Born on May 6, 1947, Gail lived a life rooted in love, faith, and devotion to her family.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie Lee Faircloth, and William "Tete" Faircloth, and by her sisters, Eloise Parsons and Sylvia Butts, and brother-in-law Johnny Lane Taylor.

She is survived by Jimmy, her beloved husband of 60 years whose steadfast love was the foundation of her life. She also leaves behind her children, Jonathan Champion and his wife, Sonya, and Jeannie Champion Gupton and her husband, Scott. Gail was a proud and devoted grandmother to Josh Champion and his partner, Savannah Miller, and to Hannah Champion Edens and her husband, Curtis, all of whom brought her immense joy.

Gail is also survived by her siblings: Patrick (Pat) Faircloth and his wife, Mary; Laura Holder; William (Bo) Faircloth and his wife, Elaine; Elaine Clayton and her husband, Larry; Joan Raynor and her husband Donald and Patsy Taylor, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

Gail will be remembered for her kindness, her loving heart, and her deep, unwavering love for her family. She had a gentle way of making others feel cared for and valued, and her presence will be dearly missed. Her legacy of love will continue through the lives of those she held closest to her heart.

A funeral service will be held at noon Thursday, February 5, 2026 at Antioch Baptist Church.   

The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M., burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
