Mrs. Selma Lett Cummings, 97, of Lillington passed away Monday, September 1, 2025, at Emerald Health and Rehab Center in Lillington. She was born in Lee County, the daughter of the late Willie Puzie and Verta Cox Lett. In addition to her parents, Selma was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Lee Winfred Cummings; sisters, Gladys Lett, Esther Yarborough, Cleo Byrd, Alice Womack, Violet Gilmore and Betty Garner, brothers, Puzie Doyle “Bud” Lett and Gilbert Lett; niece, Maxine Patterson and nephew, Lux Lett.
Selma was an active member of Raven Rock Presbyterian Church for over 80 years, where she was a devoted Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader. Selma owned and operated Selma’s Beauty Shop into her 80’s. She raised her children in a Christian home.
Selma is survived by her daughters, Linda Temple and husband Bobby of Lillington and Bonnie Thomas and husband Donnie of Sanford, son, Scott Cummings and wife Vicki of Fayetteville; 5 grandchildren, Jeremy Thomas, Tina Rawls, Mary Temple, Hank Cummings and Lauren Cummings; 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 3:00-3:45 PM at Raven Rock Presbyterian Church in Lillington. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM in the church with Elder Edward “Pee Wee” Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A reception will be held for family and friends after the graveside service in the church fellowship hall.
