Sara Nell (O'Briant) Walker

Sara O’Briant Walker, 89, of Lillington, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Green Leaf Care Center.

Sara was born April 5, 1934 in Granville County, NC to the late Abner Benjamin O’Briant and Martha Lonie Oakley O’Briant.  She moved to Harnett County in 1941 and attended Lillington High School and was a graduate of Hardbarger Business College and Central Carolina Community College.  Sara worked for Bank of Lillington, Lillington Baptist Church and NC State University retiring in 1994.  She was a longtime member of Lillington United Methodist Church.  Sara was a voracious reader, avid gardener, enjoyed the challenge of a crossword puzzle, thrifting and all kinds of arts and crafts.      

She was preceded in death by infant son, John David Walker; brother, Robert Earl O’Briant; sisters, Irma O’Briant Strickland and Margaret O’Briant Collier. 

Sara is survived by her daughter, Nancy Walker Johnson (Donald); sons, Larry Walker, Garry Walker (Arnell), Jeffrey Walker (Cramer), and James Walker; brother, Dr. Charles Rex O’Briant; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 3pm Sunday, March 17, 2024 at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 1310 S. Main St., Lillington, NC 27546 with Rev. Tommy Brown officiating. Burial will follow the service at Angier Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends 2pm-3pm prior to the service at the funeral home. 

The family would like to acknowledge Harnett County Department of Aging, Meals on Wheels, Greenleaf Care Center, Liberty Hospice and Antioch Baptist Church for their care and support. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any church or charity of one’s choice.
