Sandra Page Obituary

Sandra Black Page, 84, of Lillington, passed away Tuesday April 26, 2022 at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh surrounded by her beloved family.

She was born January 8, 1938 in Lillington to the late Bessie Turlington Black and William Henry Black Jr. Sandra was preceded in death by two brothers, William Henry Black III and Ronald Keith Black.

Sandra was a devoted wife and mother who was blessed to raise her own children, and care for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well several other relatives’ children. She had a great love for children and made them feel special, loved and known. She loved Jesus and she taught children’s Sunday School and served in children’s ministry over the years. She was a prolific writer and photographer who found beauty in God’s creation. She particularly enjoyed taking photos of sunsets and flowers in her own beautiful, shaded yard. Sandra enjoyed traveling to the mountains and spending time at her beloved, humble home at White Lake, N.C.
She had a gift for hospitality and opened her home many times over the years to loved ones in need of respite and restoration. Her coffee pot was always on, and she loved nothing better than having her family gathered around her table enjoying her wonderful cooking. She loved her vegetable and flower gardens and she worked countless hours canning and freezing the harvest.
Her husband called her “Funny Girl,” and she had a quirky and contagious sense of humor. She loved to laugh and to make others laugh. Her brothers and her sisters were her best friends and she served as the matriarch of her large extended family after her mother’s death. She relished her role as a grandmother and leaves many cherished memories of fun, play, laughter, and life lessons. She also leaves volumes of handwritten daily prayers for her beloved family.
Though she lost most of her sight a decade ago, she never lost her ability to see the very best in us all. When she could no longer attend church services, she faithfully watched Sunday morning services from Hayes Barton Baptist Church on TV. Her unwavering faith in God, her love for her savior Jesus Christ, and the infallible Word of God, which she studied daily, sustained and strengthened the faith of those who knew her. She and her husband created a legacy of love that has impacted several generations of her family, friends, and community.

She is survived by her husband of more than 61 years, Roger Page; her daughters, Carol Page Moffitt and husband Walter, Renee Page Currin and husband Mark, Krista Page Pierce and husband Greg; her grandchildren, Nathan Moffitt, Nicholas Moffitt, Emily Moffitt, Jonathan Butler and wife Justice, Kelli Worrell and husband Robert, Matthew Currin, Josh Currin and fiancé Hailey Fleming, Andrew Pierce and Caroline Pierce; great-grandchildren Wyatt Butler, Kenley Worrell and Averie Worrell. Her sisters, Betty Clack, Hellen Collins, Brenda Yarborough and Lynda Black; sister-in-law Helen Page Laugisch; one aunt, Gilda Gray Turlington; and many special nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday April 27, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 PM at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home and other times at the home. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday April 28, 2022 at Antioch Baptist Church in Mamers with Rev. Robbie O'Quinn officiating. A private burial will follow in the church cemetery.
