Ruby Mae Fish Johnson

Ruby Mae Fish Johnson, 88, passed away January 25, 2026 surrounded by loved ones.  She was born March 14, 1937 at home in Cumberland County to the late Snow Walter Fish and Ida Stevens Fish.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, Charles (“Charlie”) Wayne Johnson and Bobby Gerald Johnson; as well as all 9 of her siblings.

She is survived by her children, Sheila Johnson Gifford, Charles Michael Johnson, Julie Johnson Mixon (William), Kenneth Roland Johnson (Jean), Sharon Teresa Sholder (Bryan), Randy Christopher Johnson (Melanie); 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Ruby loved flowers and gardening, fishing, and sewing but most of all she loved her grandchildren.  She had a kind heart and was loved by all.  She will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends from 12pm-1pm on Friday, January 30, 2026 with a funeral service beginning at1:00pm at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home, 1310 S. Main Street, Lillington, NC.  The graveside service will follow at Westview Cemetery.  Ruby’s grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
