Robert Kenneth "Ken" Mahar

Robert “Ken” Kenneth Mahar, 70, of Mamers, passed away, Monday, November 20, 2023 at his home in Lillington, NC. 

Ken was born January 30, 1953 in Harnett County, NC.  He was a 1971 graduate of South Rowan High School.  Ken was a folk artist, and was happiest when he was painting or carving.  He loved to recycle old barnwood to create his wood spirit bird houses.  He drew inspiration from nature, turning an old log or tree knot into something beautiful. Ken was an active member of the Boone Trail Ruritan Club. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Mahar; and brother, Mitch Mahar. 

Kenneth is survived by his wife of 18 years, Marcita Mahar; mother, Rozena Holder Mahar; daughter, Miranda Mahar Fox and husband, Brian; grandson, Colson Fox; and sister, Pam Mahar Holt.     

A memorial service will be held 3pm Thursday, November 30, 2023 at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 1310 S. Main St., Lillington, NC 27546.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. 

Memorials may be sent to the Boone Trail Ruritan Club.
