Richard "Dick" Leroy Wells

Mr. Richard “Dick” Leroy Wells, 94, of Angier passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. He was born in Angier, the son of the late Lee Roy and Sydna Herndon Wells. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Wells; brothers, Herndon Wells, Jack Wells; sisters, Dorothy Carson and Ardelle Deaton. Dick worked for many years in the tobacco industry, starting as a shipping clerk and retiring as a vice president of Universal Leaf Tobacco Company.

Dick is survived by his wife of 72 years, Frances Wells of the home; 2 sons, Bob Wells and wife Eva Lena of Sweden, Dexter Wells and wife Cathy of Greer, SC; daughter-in-law, Lillian Wells of Angier; granddaughter, Victoria, five grandsons, Mark, Daniel, Brady, Taylor and Alexander; great grandchildren, Ethan, Addison, Taylor and James.

A graveside service will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Angier Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Thomas Allen officiating.
