Richard Vernon Wigal

Mr. Richard Vernon Wigal, 78, of Spring Lake passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022, at the VA Medical Center in Durham. He was born in Jefferson County, OH, the son of the late Lawrence and Orple Wigal. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Wigal; brother, Sonny Wigal and sister, Lucille West.

Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved to woodwork and make people laugh. Richard enjoyed going to bluegrass festivals and fishing. He will be missed by family and many friends.

Richard is survived by his stepchildren, Sharon, Sandra and Junior; special niece, Judy Mozingo and husband Ray of Louisburg; six siblings, Shirley Memsen, Ed Wigal, Sheldon Wigal, Christina Schafer, Joyce Brown and Willie Wigal; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, January 30, 2022, at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Chapel in Lillington with military honors. The family will receive friends following the service.
