Richard Gene Berent

Mr. Richard Gene Berent, 78, of Holly Springs passed away December 1, 2022, at Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington. He was born in Coral Gables, FL, the son of the late Jerome and Carolyn Jodice Berent. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his son, John Berent.

Richard was a very hard-working man who loved his children and family. He grew up in New York and moved to North Carolina in 1977. His hobbies included boating and fishing. He enjoyed visiting the Cayman Islands and the mountains of North Carolina. Richard had a great love for all animals. He was a residential home developer in New York and North Carolina. In his retirement, he found a love for art and became a metal and glass artist. His art was featured in many local shows and developed a great following of patrons.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Candace Lloyd and husband, Eric, son, Richard Berent, II, daughter, Colleen Berent; grandchildren, Isabella Lloyd, Zach Berent; great granddaughter, Mina; sister, Elaine Godwin; brother, Giovanni Berent; nieces, Tracy Gresko, Kristin Kara; nephews, Christopher Smith, David Berent.

A private service will be held later.
