Ralph Edward Schmid

Ralph Edward Schmid, 73, of Linden, passed away, Monday, October 21, 2024 at Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn, NC. 

Ralph was born January 10, 1951 in Argyle, Wisconsin to the late Robert and Dorothy Blum Schmid.  He was a graduate of Argyle High School and a veteran of the US Army.  Ralph was employed with Goodyear retiring with over 33 years of service.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers and Duke Blue Devils Basketball.  Ralph enjoyed spending time with family, grandchildren, and friends.      

He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Era Jean “Jeanie” Elixson Schmid; and brothers, John Schmid, Bud Schmid, and Leland Schmid.

Ralph is survived by his daughters, Hazel Forcier, and Teresa Watts (Robert); brothers, Mark Schmid, Chris Schmid, Gary Schmid, Roy Schmid, Stan Schmid and William “Billy” Schmid; sister, Karen Ziegler; grandchildren, Jason Watts, James Watts, Jr., Wayne Greene, Justin Watts, Steven Greene, and Stephanie Richardson; great grandchildren, Derek Watts, Audrey Watts, Hannah Watts, Lilly Watts, Nevaeh Harding, Miah Harding, Ava Miller, Aubree Sapp, and Camillia Greene; and several nieces and nephews.    

 A funeral service will be held 2pm Saturday, October 26, 2024 at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 1310 S. Main St., Lillington, NC 27546 with Pastor Larry Wilkes officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
