Rainer Wagner Obituary

Rainer (RJ) Wagner passed to a better life on December 14, 2020. He was given the gift of no further suffering. When RJ was six years old, his family escaped on a perilous journey from East Germany where they settled in Alberta Canada. Rainer moved to the United States as a teen and succeeded in earning his bachelors degree from USC and a master's degree from Webster University. He joined the Army as a Ranger during the Viet Nam war where he served two tours of duty. Returning to civilian life, RJ found that he missed the military and rejoined. He obtained his United States citizenship and trained in Special Forces. RJ also served during DESERT STORM and in Bosnia. He learned mountain climbing in the Pyranees which brought him great pleasure. RJ went on to serve twenty three years as a green beret.

Rainer leaves behind his wife joyce who will truly miss the love of her life. Also grieving are his stepdaughter Heather Jackson and friend Lee Parsons, his grandchildren Vikram and Madhavi Trikha, his brother Roy (Chris), and Joyce’s stepdaughter Cathie Hurley. Rainer and Joyce give thanks for the love and support given to them by their wonderful friends and neighbors, the Butler's and the Berkebiles.

Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.
