Rachel Steed Korpulinski

Mrs. Rachel Steed Korpulinski, 94, native of Harnett County, went home to be with her Lord, on Thursday, April 1, 2021.

She was born to the late Carl F. Steed and Iola Senter Steed on Nov 7, 1926. After graduation from LaFayette High School in 1943, she was employed as a communications code clerk with the Army Signal Corps, handling secret and top-secret communications.  She also worked with Dr. Glenn Judd for several years until his death in 1969.  She retired after working 30 years with Harnett County Tax Department as Tax Listing Supervisor.

Rachel was a devoted and faithful member of Christian Light Church where she served as the church clerk for many years and taught a ladies’ Sunday school class.  She always thought of others before herself.  She was a member of many Senior Citizens’ clubs and had many dear friends. 

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 11 am at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Fuquay-Varina with Rev. Jimmy Elliott presiding.

Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond S. Korpulinski; son, Rodney Korpulinski; brothers, Roy, Robert, Ray, and Levi Steed; and sisters, Ruby Burchette and Mary Lou Lindsay.

She is survived by her grandson, Jason Korpulinski; great-granddaughter, Emma Korpulinski; brother, Sam Steed; sister, Polly S. Wise; sister-in-law, Annettie Steed; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to pay their respects to Mrs. Korpulinski on Monday, April 5, 2021, from noon to 5 pm at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home.   The family will not be present at this time.

In accordance with current North Carolina COVID-19 guidelines, the funeral home requests that everyone in attendance practice social distancing and wear a face covering. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christian Light Christian Church, 4351 Christian Light Rd, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.
