Peter Kenneth Lampkins

Peter Kenneth Lampkins, age 52, passed away on January 16, 2020 in Lagos, Nigeria. He was born on October 28, 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand and lived and worked in over ten countries throughout his lifetime.
After graduating from high school in Paris, Peter went on to get his Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Maryland in Munich, Germany and the American University of Rome, respectively.

Peter was united in marriage with Leyla Ahmed Islao on January 17, 1992. Together, they had three daughters - Luul, Jezira, and Dea. He served in the U.S. Army as a Ranger in the 82nd Airborne Division for four years. Upon completing his military service, he began what would become a 22-year career as a special agent in the Drug Enforcement Administration. This position took Peter and his family to San Diego, the Dominican Republic, Morocco, and Nigeria. For the last two years of his life, Peter began a second career as a contractor for the U.S. State Department in Lagos, Nigeria.

Peter was passionate about fitness, traveling, and spending time with family. When Peter wasn’t coaching games or engaged in sporting activities with his daughters, he enjoyed reading, basketball, boxing, Crossfit, soccer, spearfishing, and compassionate about helping others. He is survived and will be deeply missed by his parents, siblings, wife, and three daughters.
He is further survived by family and friends across the world.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 12:00 PM at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel.  Visitation will immediately follow the service.
