Peter Gabriel Hanlon

Remembering Peter Gabriel Hanlon, a man whose life was that of determination and passion. 

Peter was born on January 5th, 1960, in Jersey City, New Jersey and left us on November 1, 2023 leaving an irreplaceable void in our hearts.

Peter started his career as a case manager at Christ Hospital in Jersey City, NJ. Later, he graduated Magna cum Laude from St. Peter’s College. 

He had a calling to volunteer at Missionaries of Charity Men’s Shelter and Soup Kitchen in the south Bronx, NY and was fortunate to have a chance meeting with Mother Teresa of Calcutta which made a profound impact on his life. His knowledge of theology ran deep and could quote scripture with ease.

Peter enjoyed watching boxing, the NY Giants, and his beloved NY Mets. There was more to him than his love of sports. He also loved his dog Ziggy and cat Belfast. 

After relocating from New Jersey to North Carolina in 2004 Peter became a nature enthusiast. He found solace in the beauty of reptiles and the wonders of the world around him. 

Yet, amidst all these passions, his family was his heartbeat. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Linda Gribensk Hanlon, his children, Cathleen, Tommy, and Shaun O'Rourke, grandchildren Skylar, Liam, Abigail, Brayden, Alex, Stephen, Andrew, and his great grandchildren Maddie, and Lilly. 

Peter was preceded in death by his mother, Jane Waters Hanlon, father Paul M Hanlon, brother Paul Hanlon, and is survived by his sister Katherine Hanlon, brother Joseph Hanlon and nephews Owen and Liam.

Peter's presence will be sorely missed, but his spirit will live on in the memories of those fortunate enough to have known him.
