Peggy Jean Cryner Brown, 78, of Buies Creek, passed away surrounded by her family on October 31, 2018, after an unexpected illness.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald; her three children Jennifer Joyner (Ken), Jeff (Cristie), and Jay (Tracy); her sisters Penny Kye (Lee) and Patty Stockner; her nephew Joe Brown; and her grandchildren Olivia Joyner and Emmett Brown.
Peggy was born in Winston-Salem, NC, to Frank Arthur and Bernice Alene Cryner. She graduated from Wake Forest University, where she met Gerald. After graduation from Wake Forest, she taught school in Winston-Salem and Chapel Hill. She moved with Gerald to Buies Creek in 1964. She served as a director of the GED program at the Harnett County Mental Health Clinic and as the director of the Coats Senior Center, and often served as either a substitute teacher and storyteller in the Harnett County School System.
She is remembered for her sweet disposition, her kind heart, and her compassion for others. She was a loving wife, and she was selfless in her generosity and dedication to her children and grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at noon Monday, November 5, 2018 at Memorial Baptist Church in Buies Creek. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. The burial will be private at Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Angier.
