Paul Barbour

Joseph Paul Barbour, 77, of Fuquay Varina, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 19th in his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Paul was born in Norfolk, Virginia on April 28, 1943 to the late Clifton and Alavia Barbour. He was preceded in death by his brother, Louis Clifton Barbour and sister, Sandra Kay Barbour. Paul grew up in Fuquay and graduated from Fuquay Springs High School in 1961.  Paul’s love of construction, starting early in life, eventually led to his lifetime career as the owner and president of Paul Barbour and Son, Inc. of Fuquay Varina. He employed numerous residents from the surrounding areas who became like family to him.

Paul is survived by his devoted and loving family, wife, Barbara Matthews Barbour of 58 years, son, Barry Barbour of Hampstead, daughter, Pamela Barbour of Fuquay Varina, and his most precious treasures, his two grandchildren, Bryan Barbour (his second son) and Ashlyn Barbour (his little princess). Both were God’s blessings whom he valued more than gold.

Paul was a life member of the Lillington Masonic Lodge and member of Chalybeate Springs Baptist Church. Paul enjoyed his collection of classic cars and spending time at Atlantic Beach. 

A graveside service with Masonic Rites will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2020, at 3 pm at Chalybeate Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. C. Paul Jones presiding.  The family will receive friends at the home.  The public is invited to O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home on Saturday, November 21, 2020 between the hours of 3 to 5 pm or on Sunday, November 22, 2020, between the hours of 9 am to 1 pm to pay their respects to Mr. Barbour.
