Pat Truman Harper, 78, of Lillington, passed away after a valiant fight with sickness, Thursday, October 10, 2024, surrounded by his family at his home in Lillington, NC.
Pat was born on December 9, 1945 in Comfort, West Virginia to the late Joseph and Anna Mae Purdue Harper. He was a coal miner and truck driver retiring with over 35 years of service with Moxley Masonry. He was a hard-working God-fearing man with an infectious smile. Pat had a giving heart, and he never met a stranger. He had an undying love for his family and fought to the last breath for them all. Pat leaves behind a void that will never be filled.
Pat was preceded in death by his first wife of 54 years, Nettie Ann Harper; brother, David Harper; sister, Annis Frances Newman; and granddaughter, Angel Ann Kersey.
He is survived by his wife, Tracy Harper; daughters, Kathy Faye Thompson, Melissa K. Harper, and Hope Anne McWhorter; sons, Dale Truman Harper, Larry Duane Harper (Jennifer); brothers, Marion O. Harper, and William L. Harper; eleven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and a multitude of friends.
A funeral service will be held 12pm Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 1310 S. Main St., Lillington, NC 27546 with Pastor Joseph Earp officiating. Burial will follow the service at Westview Cemetery in Lillington. The family will receive friends 10am – 11:45am prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at his daughter’s home.
