Mr. Oscar Holder, 89, of Lillington passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington. He was born in Harnett County, the son of the late Ithra and Mina Holder. In addition to his parents, Oscar was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Lenora Holder; granddaughter, Tonya Holder; brothers, Bill Holder, Donald Holder; sisters, Lindy Clark, Beatrice Holder, Betty Brown, Lee Etta Barefoot, Inez Mangum and Shirley Holder.
Oscar was a lifelong farmer and avid deer hunter, better known on the CB radio as "Big O" who also loved to hear his dogs run. He enjoyed planting and sharing a large vegetable garden each year. Oscar could be found most Friday nights at the Woodmen Building in Mamers enjoying a game of Bingo. He could also be found at Hardees or the Mamer’s Grill socializing with his friends. Oscar was a member of Spring Hill United Methodist Church in Lillington. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Oscar is survived by 4 sons, Lebert Holder and wife Delores of Lillington, Mike Holder and wife Beth of Lillington, Eddie L. Holder and wife Malinda of Lillington, Timmy Holder and wife Paula of Lillington, 5 grandchildren, Crystal Hodges (John), William Holder (Stacey), Dustin Holder (Katy), Taylor Duggan (Joseph), Megan Holder, 7 great-grandchildren, Nathan Holder, Hannah Holder, Pace Holder, Dane Holder, Parker Hodges, Nora Hodges, Cash Holder and one on the way; brother, Earl Holder and wife, Jeanette of Broadway; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:45 AM Friday, January 12, 2024, at Spring Hill United Methodist Church. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary with Rev. Dr. Bobby Rackley officiating. Burial will follow in the Holder Family Cemetery.
