Norfleet Everett Mangum

Norfleet Everett Mangum, 83, of Cameron, passed away, Friday, December 23, 2023 at Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC. 

Norfleet was born December 22, 1940 in Wake County, NC to the late John Wallace Mangum and Rubina King Mangum.  He was a 1959 graduate of Benhaven High School  and was a veteran of the US Navy.  Norfleet worked as a shop foreman in civil service at Fort Bragg, retiring with over 30 years of service.  He was a volunteer firefighter and EMT with Spout Springs and Benhaven Emergency Services with over 20 years of service.  Norfleet was a member of Lillington Masonic Lodge #302 and was a member and deacon of Hillmon Grove Baptist Church.  He enjoyed fishing and spent much time at Holden Beach with family and friends.  Norfleet was a servant and caregiver to his community, church, and family.  

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie Mangum; step-daughters, Lois Coats, and Bunnie Ward; and brothers, Andrew Wallace Mangum, and Wayne Mangum.

Norfleet is survived by many nieces and nephews; and long-term caregiver and friend, Barbara Garner.

A funeral service will be held 11am Friday, December 29, 2023, Hillmon Grove Baptist Church, 384 Hillmon Grove Rd., Cameron, NC 28326 with Rev. Wayne O’Quinn, Rev. Chris Wroten, and Rev. Brandon Gaster officiating.  Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends 10am – 11am prior to the service at the church.     

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hillmon Grove Baptist Church or a charity of one’s choice.
