Melissa Yvette “Missy” Harris, born November 29, 1965, in Hatfield, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 13, 2026, at Harmony in Greensboro.

Missy was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Pat Harris, whose love of travel and creativity influenced and shaped her throughout her life.

She was a graduate of Marywood University and built a successful career in technology and rail transportation. Missy worked as a Senior Programmer Analyst with Consolidated Rail Corporation and Railinc Corporation before retiring from Tekniforce in 2024.

Missy is survived by her sister, Cindy (Tony) Fogleman; nephews Aaron (Jackie) Fogleman and Andrew (Cynda) Fogleman; niece Ashley (Jamie) Burgess; and many great-nieces and great-nephews whom she adored. She also leaves behind her Aunt Karen Harris and many cousins and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Missy had a passion for travel and adventure, especially trips to Disney and the coast of North Carolina. She had a lifelong love of learning and creativity, taking painting lessons and creating beautiful stained-glass artwork that she lovingly gifted to family members. One of the many ways she showed her love was through the thoughtful cards she sent for every occasion — birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and milestones. Family members always looked forward to receiving them because Missy took such special care in choosing exactly the right card for each person.

Missy will be remembered for her love of travel, creativity, and the care she showed through the thoughtful traditions she shared with family and friends. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, May 24th, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home, 1310 S. Main Street, Lillington, North Carolina, in the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local Humane Society or to Duke Health Giving in Missy’s memory.
