Matthew "Matt" Bradford McDonald

Mr. Matthew “Matt” Bradford McDonald, 33, of Angier passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021, at his home. He was born in Lee County, the son of the late James Bradford “Brad” McDonald and Tammy Matthews McDonald. In addition to his father, Matt was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Alvis Matthews, paternal grandparents, Jimmy and Frances McDonald.

Matt adored his family and was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, grandson, and friend. Matt loved music, especially the guitar and piano. He played in several bands growing up. Matt enjoyed go cart racing with his father, Brad. He enjoyed playing golf, especially mini golf with his daughter, Virginia. He was gifted in digital technology.

Matt was a graduate of Campbell University with a bachelor’s degree in Trust and Wealth Management. While attending Campbell, he was a member of the university choir. He worked as a Senior Financial Service Officer with the State Employees Credit Union in Holly Springs.

Matt is survived by his wife, Ethalee Powell McDonald of the home; daughter, Virginia Grace McDonald of the home; mother, Tammy Matthews McDonald of Nashville, TN; sister, Noelle Jeannie McDonald of Nashville, TN; maternal grandmother, Mary Jane Matthews (Boo) of Lillington; Ethalee’s parents, Walter and Cheryl Powell of Whiteville; sister-in-law, Martha Ritcher and husband Nick of Lake Waccamaw, NC; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Matt will be greatly missed by all.

The family will receive friends Monday, December 20, 2021, from 10:00-10:45 AM at Spring Hill United Methodist Church in Lillington. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at the church with Rev. Dr. Bobby Rackley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
