Mr. Marshall Lenwood Cobb, 91, of Broadway and formerly of Johnston County, went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning November 28, 2020.
Mr. Cobb was born July 3, 1929 to Marshall Henry and Neva Langdon Cobb. He attended school in Smithfield until the family moved to the Cleveland community where he graduated from Cleveland High School in 1947. He attended college at Presbyterian Junior College before going to work for Carolina Power & Light Co. in Raleigh.
Mr. Cobb served in the US Army during the Korean War. He returned to CP&L after his military service where he was the supervisor of the Meter Lab until his retirement in 1988 with 41 years.
From 1992 – 2012 he and his wife, Geraldine worked with his daughter, Marsha and husband, Bruce, distributing their Homes and Land magazines. Marshall loved people in general and was a great asset to their business.
Marshall is survived by his wife of 48 years, Geraldine; sister, Faye (Terry Johnson); son, Phillip (Sally); daughter, Julia (Johnny Clark); son, Michael; daughter, Marsha (Bruce Tilley); grandchildren, David (Erin), Thomas, Andrew (Anna), Michelle (Youssef Alharoon), Joseph (Elizabeth), Meredith (Osvaldo Guido), Charity (Justin Pritchard) and Daniel; niece, Jenny; and great-grandchildren, Bennett, Cameron and Vincent. Special thanks to the caretakers that were always so good to Marshall. Especially Mary Wicker, Malisha “Boo” Stepney, Denise Stroud and Malinda Banks.
Most of all, Marshall loved spending time with his family and friends. He was generous with his time and resources, always eager to lend a helping hand. Marshall and Geraldine have enjoyed many ballgames, plays, reunions and family events. He was a faithful church member and served in numerous roles.
We will be celebrating Marshall’s life at Holly Springs Baptist Church, 385 Holly Springs Church Rd, Broadway, NC 27505 on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at 11 am with Rev. Scott Yow and Rev. Jerry Parsons officiating. A graveside service will be held later on Saturday at 2 pm at Sunset Memorial Park, 100 NC Hwy 210, Smithfield, NC 27577.
Friends are invited to visit O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home on Friday, December 4, 2020, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM to pay their respects to Mr. Cobb. The family will not be present during this time.
In accordance with current North Carolina COVID-19 guidelines, the funeral home requests that everyone in attendance practice social distancing and wear a face covering.
