Mark Calvin Janes peacefully passed away at home after an unexpected illness on February 2, 2021. He was a loving partner, father, and brother.
Mark graduated from NC State in Civil Engineering. He was a professional engineer and excelled throughout his 25 year technical career, enabling him to work for a number of engineering/construction companies throughout the southeast.
Alongside Mark’s technical career he found his passion in woodworking and carpentry, constructing various furniture pieces and cabinetry to the delight of his family and friend recipients. He was always willing to lend a hand (and his tools); he was the family Mr. Fix it. He found joy in using his skills to complete the new home he and Julie recently moved into in Lillington.
A private, family service will be held.
He is survived by his sons, Jonathan and wife Caroline, and Spenser; his fiancé, Julie Spicka; his siblings, Debbie, Mary Beth, Michael, Kelly, John Paul and wife Betsy; nieces Kathleen and husband Matt Daniels, Kellie, and Kasey.
Mark loved nothing more than being with family and friends for cook-outs, beach trips, drinks and conversations (telling whoppers). In the last year of Mark’s life, he had moved to the “country” of Harnett County with Julie where he was doing the things that he loved the most; living stress free, nightly grilling and watching the sunsets with her.
May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind always be at your back,
May the sunshine warm on your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your fields.
Until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
