Margie Lee Dorman Stewart

Margie Lee Dorman Stewart, 87, of Lillington, passed away, Friday, March 14, 2025 at Emerald Health and Rehabilitation Center. 

 Margie was born November 18, 1937 in Harnett County to the late Lawton and Margaret Dorman.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Cyrus F. Stewart; son, Scott Stewart; brothers, Bobby Dorman and Ray Dorman.

 Margie is survived by her son, Mark Stewart; granddaughter Lorie Melvin (David); great-grandchildren, Lilly and Marlee; daughter-in-law, Monica Stewart; and granddaughter Kayleigh Stewart.

Margie, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend to many, left an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew her. A proud graduate of Angier High School's class of 1956, Margie went on to have a distinguished 35-year career with the State of North Carolina.

Her professional journey included 30 years of dedicated service with the Clerk of Superior Court in Harnett County, where she served as a Deputy Clerk. She also spent five years with the Department of Labor in Raleigh.

Margie's passions extended far beyond her impressive career. She was renowned for her exceptional cooking, particularly her signature sourdough bread, which brought joy to countless friends and family members. Her love for gardening, home decorating, traveling, and shopping was evident in every aspect of her life.

A devoted member of the Gardening Club and Happy Travelers, Margie was also an active and beloved member of Lillington Baptist Church. Although her health prevented her from attending services in person during her later years, she remained deeply connected to her Sunday School class, which brought her immense comfort and joy.

Margie's legacy is a testament to her kindness, generosity, and love for life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A funeral service will be held at Lillington Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at 2:00 pm with burial to follow at Harnett Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
