Linwood Jerome Coleman

Linwood Jerome Coleman, 76, of Broadway, passed away, Friday, August 02, 2024, surrounded by his family at his home in Broadway, NC. 

Linwood was born April 12, 1948 in Harnett County to the late James Clifton Coleman and Myrtle Kennedy Coleman.  He was a graduate of Lillington High School, class of 1966.  Linwood worked with the NC Department of Corrections, retiring as Captain with over 25 years of service.  He was an avid outdoorsman with a love of hunting and fishing.  Linwood loved spending time with his grandchildren.  He was a member of the Lillington Masonic Lodge #302.      

He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Dianne Burgess Coleman; sister, Donnie Butler; and brother, Larry Coleman.

Linwood is survived by his daughters, Tricia Adams and husband, Tim of Lillington, and Karen Coleman (Andrew) of Sanford; sisters, Lana Ahrens of Marietta, GA, Brenda Johnson of Lillington, and Delia Powell of Lillington; brother, Jimmy Coleman of Lillington; grandchildren, Tanner Adams and wife, Jessica, Trace Adams, and Kasyn Kolacinski; and many nieces and nephews. 

A funeral service will be held 2pm Monday, August 5, 2024 at Crossroads Ministries, 107 Milton Avenue, Broadway, NC 27505, with Pastor Chris Pipes officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Westview Cemetery in Lillington.  The family will receive friends 6pm – 8pm Sunday, August 4, 2024 at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home, 1310 S. Main St., Lillington, NC 27546.
