Kathryn Rowland Talley

Mrs. Kathryn Rowland Talley, 85, a resident of Lillington, NC since 1966 when she moved here with her husband Kenneth and son Kevin went to her home in heaven on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.

Mrs. Talley was born in Fuquay Springs on July 7,1938. Following graduation from Fuquay Springs High School she graduated from Campbell Junior College in 1958 and then attended Meredith College where she graduated in 1960 with a degree in education.

Mrs. Talley's husband Dr. Kenneth Talley and her parents, Samuel and Eshter Rowland are deceased.

Survivors include son Kevin Matthew Talley and wife Cindy of Jacksonville, Fla., brothers in law John David Talley and wife Bert of Fuquay-Varina and Jerry Talley of Willow Spring and many nieces and nephews.

Soon after arriving in Lillington Kathryn joined Lillington Baptist Church where she was a long-time member of the chancel choir, committee member, and church secretary briefly. She also joined her husband on a mission trip to South Africa.

She also worked as a schoolteacher at Lillington High School and Cape Fear Christian. She then worked for the religion department at Campbell University before joining George Womble when he started Womble Realty where she worked until retirement.

In retirement she cared for Kenneth as he battled osteo and rheumatoid arthritis and COPD. She also enjoyed her neighbors, especially Billy and Glenda West who kept an eye on her as her health declined in recent years.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, May 10, 2024, at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home in Lillington. The funeral service will be at Lillington Baptist Church on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Rick Shepherd officiating. Graveside services will be at Wake Chapel Memorial Gardens in Fuquay-Varina following the funeral.
