June B. Simmons

Mrs. June B. Simmons, 95, of Sanford passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Parkview Retirement Village. She was born in Rockingham, County, the daughter of the late Homer Albert Bryant and Gladys Saul Bryant. In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Oscar James Simmons; son, Stephen Bryant Simmons; daughter, Julia Ann Simmons; brother, George “Pete” Albert Bryant.

June loved her Lord, her family, gardening, flowers, and her pets. Most recently, June was a home bound member of Sanford First Baptist Church, Sanford, NC. Previously, she was actively involved at both Spray Baptist Church, Eden, NC, and Floyd Baptist Church, Floyd, VA, where she taught Sunday School, wrote poetry, and made Chrismon ornaments. June's true calling was to be a wife, mother, and homemaker. Later in life she worked as a bookkeeper for Doyle Painting and Twin Pines Tree Farm.

June is survived by her son, Dr. Michael Simmons and wife, Sandra of Fuquay-Varina, NC; two grandchildren, Jeff Simmons and wife, Kristy of Charlotte, Sarah Lemons and husband, Jason of Fuquay-Varina, NC; five great-grandchildren, Peyton Simmons, Chloe Simmons, Dylan Simmons, Elijah Lemons and Levi Lemons.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 24, 2023 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Reidsville, NC with Rev. Dr. Michael Simmons and Rev. Michael Handy.
