Mr. Johnny Stewart McLamb, 86, of Lillington passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Harnett County, the son of the late Herman D and Elsie Stewart McLamb. Stewart was a graduate of Campbell College and Wake Forest College. He exemplified a servant’s heart both at church and at home. Stewart was an example of Christian character throughout his life. His love for his family was evident to all.
Stewart is survived by his wife of 60 and one-half years, Mary Joe Gardner McLamb of the home; daughters, Mary Stewart Kolesar and husband Jason of Red Oak, NC; Fay Bowen and husband Glen of Lillington, NC; son, John Morgan McLamb and wife Jenny of Panama City, Panama; 8 grandchildren, Kaitlyn Upchurch, Bill Mouton, Mason Kolesar, Caleb McLamb, Luke McLamb, Elijah McLamb, Duke Bowen and Hope McLamb; 4 great-grandchildren, Mia Upchurch, Natalie Upchurch, Adaline Goolsby and Sofia Tay Upchurch; sister, Barbara Byrd of Raleigh; nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 18, 2022, from 10:00-10:45 AM at Pleasant Union Christian Church and other times at the home. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary with Dr. Greg Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Union Christian Church for the training of future pastors and missionaries.
