Johnnie Ray Paul

Johnnie Ray Paul, 60, of Lillington, NC passed away November 15, 2021, at UNC Rex Healthcare in Raleigh, NC. 

He was born March 2, 1961, in Beaufort County, North Carolina to the late Mavis Midyette Paul and Hilton Paul. Johnnie was preceded in death by his brothers, Gary Paul and Larry Paul. 

Johnnie loved traveling to Carolina Beach with his family where he enjoyed fishing on the Kure Beach pier. One of Johnnie’s dreams came true when he was able to get his own pontoon boat, which he enjoyed taking to Sharon Harris Lake whenever he had the chance. He also enjoyed spending his free time hunting and was an avid outdoorsmen; he passed on this knowledge by mentoring his son and other young men as a Boy Scout troop leader. 

Johnnie was a loving husband, amazing father and a true friend. He was a man that required little and gave a lot; he was always happy to help anyone in need, and everyone who knew him knew he was the person to call in an emergency. He was a man of few words, lots of wisdom and even more love.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Carla Wimple Paul; his daughter, Kelly Paul; his son, Curtis Paul and wife Stephanie; his grandsons, Joshua and Asher Paul; his sister, Jenny Lee; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. 

A memorial service will be held Saturday November 20, 2021, at 1PM at O’Quinn Peebles Phillips Funeral Home 1310 S. Main St. in Lillington. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the memorial service. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kipling United Methodist Church at 55 Kipling Church Rd, Kipling, NC 27543.
