John Hutchison Obituary

John C. Hutchison, formerly of Harrington, DE, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on February 19, 2025.

Born in Dover, DE, he was the son of Paul and Mary (Paris) Hutchison. John was the youngest of the first set of triplets to be born at Kent General Hospital on June 20, 1942.

John loved life to the fullest and always tried to make people smile. His goal was to bring joy to whomever he met. He graduated from Dover High School in 1961. He then served in the Delaware Army National Guard for six years. John held various jobs to include Camden Police Department, Department of Corrections, University of Delaware Police and General Foods. John, with his wife Alice, even returned to Murphey School, the group home he spent many years at, to become a House Parent to serve children like himself. He had a heart like no other and always found joy in whatever circumstance he faced.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister Joyce, brother Paul, and two sons, John Christopher Hutchison and Joe White, Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Alice Hutchison; daughter, Kimberly Lasater (Thomas); brother James Hutchison (Cathleen); grandchildren Yuri Sharkey (Kearan), Riley White, Tom Lasater III, Rebekah Valentine (Stanley, Jr.), Noah White, William Lasater, Jacob Lasater, Kharagan White, Bennett Lasater, and Samuel White; great grandchild, Sawyer Sharkey, as well as nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his Maryland family, the Bowens.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Denton, Maryland, where he attended online services faithfully since moving to Broadway.

John had a love for the Lord and shared that love and hope with everyone he met. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you tell someone about Jesus’s love.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
