John Pat Butler

John Pat “J.P.” Butler, 86, of Broadway, passed away, Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at his home in Broadway, NC.

J.P. was born September 5, 1939 in Harnett County to the late Vester Lee Butler, Sr. and Omie Holder Butler.  He was a graduate of Benhaven High School and worked with Roadway Express, retiring with over 25 years of service.  J.P. received the one million mile driving award. He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lillington.  J.P. enjoyed the outdoors and gardening.   

J.P. is preceded in death by his grandson, James Patrick Butler; granddaughter, Erica Avery Butler; brother, Vester Lee Butler, Jr.; sisters, Agnes Ann Butler Bradford, and Lena Mae Butler Diaz.

J.P. is survived by his wife of 39 years, Gail Wilson Butler; daughter, Angie Martin Narron; sons, Randall Butler (Jennifer), Eric Butler (Mechelle), and Chad Gary Martin; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren.   

A memorial service will be held 3pm Friday, November 21, 2025 at Calvary Baptist Church, 8326 NC 27, Lillington, NC 27546 with Rev. Robbie O’Quinn officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
