Mr. Jimmy T. Thomas, Sr., 77, of Lillington, NC passed away Wednesday July 21,2021 at Emerald Health and Rehab Center.
He was born February 11,1944 in Harnett County to the late Kathleen Gilchrist Thomas and David “Paul” Thomas. Jimmy was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy “Jim” Tillman Thomas, Jr. and his two brothers, Ronnie Thomas, and Howard “Buck” Thomas.
Jimmy was born and raised in Harnett County and was a graduate of Lillington High School. Jimmy was a devoted and faithful member of Summerville Presbyterian Church where he served on the church board. Jimmy loved to minister to his community by visiting those who were ill and praying with them. He was a fan of the UNC Tarheels and enjoyed cheering them on during basketball games. Jimmy worked with the maintenance department at the Harnett County School system and Food Lion. Jimmy was a very social person who never met a stranger and loved talking with those in the local community. He enjoyed reminiscing of old times and sharing memories. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughter Valerie Thomas McLamb and her fiancé Allen “Puddin” Patterson, Jr. of Dunn, his daughter-in-law, Andrea Thomas of Lillington; four grandchildren, Madison Sexton, Jimmy “Tripp” Tillman Thomas III, Alyssa McLamb, and Ashlynn McLamb; his former wife and mother of his children, Phyllis A. Wood; his sister, Marie Barnes of Angier; and his brother, Lin Thomas and wife Phyllis Thomas.
The family will receive friends from 2:30PM to 4PM Sunday July 25 at O'Quinn Peebles Phillips Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 4PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bill Pauly officiating. Burial will follow at Summerville Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Visitors are welcome to visit the family at the home of Valerie McLamb, 800 Brookwood Avenue in Dunn.
