Jimmy Daniel Britt

Mr. Jimmy Daniel Britt, 78, of Lillington passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the VA Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born in Bladen County, the son of the late Prentice “Shine” Long and Margaret Harrelson Long.

Jimmy was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was a well-known name around the town of Lillington and anyone who knew him would say that he would give you the shirt off his back if they needed it. He loved all his friends and his family. Jimmy was a hard-working man and worked on up until the age of 74. He drove trucks and hauled heavy equipment and enjoyed running any sort of heavy equipment. Jimmy loved his corvettes, all 22-23 of them. Everyone would call him “The Corvette Man”. He lived a long and peaceful life on the river, and he will be missed terribly.

Jimmy is survived by 3 daughters, Deanna Britt of Florida, Mandi Temple and husband, Josh of Benson, Samantha Johnson and husband, Brandon of Clayton; 3 grandchildren, Payton, Raegan and Barrett; brothers, Wayne Britt and Mickey Hester of Pittsboro, William “Billy” Long and wife, Deborah of Lillington, Tony Long and wife, Terry of Fuquay-Varina; nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 2:00-2:45 PM at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 3:00 pm at Westview Cemetery in Lillington with Rev. Tommy Honeycutt officiating.
