Jimmie Gray "J.G." Baker, Jr.

Mr. Jimmie Gray “J.G.” Baker, Jr., 65, of Holly Springs passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at the SECU Hospice Home in Smithfield. He was born in Wake County, the son of the late Jimmie Gray Baker, Sr. and Eloise Evans Cade. In addition to his parents, J.G. was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Coats Baker and sister, Nancy Ransom.

J.G. loved the Lord and was an active member of Macedonia Baptist Church. J.G. served God in many capacities including Sunday school teacher, worship leader and choir member. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved his animals. J.G. coached kids over 35 years in the Fuquay community with the FVAA. He was past President of the Raleigh Optimist Club.

J.G. is survived by his son, Joshua Baker and wife, Heather of Fuquay-Varina; daughter, Tristan Moorer and husband, Jordan of Lillington; 5 grandchildren, Rylee, Peyton, Natalie, Abby and Hailey; niece and nephew; many cousins and extended family.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, August 16, 2024, at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home in Lillington and other times at the home of Joshua and Heather Baker. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Holly Springs with Pastor Terry Beatty officiating. Entombment will follow in Wake Chapel Memorial Gardens, Fuquay-Varina.
