Sylvia Jeanette West, 73, of Lillington, gained her heavenly wings, Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at her home in Lillington, NC. 

Jeanette was born October 3, 1950 in Chatham County, NC to the late Herman Lee Johnson and Betty Jane (Minnis) Johnson.  She was a graduate of Jordan Matthews High School Class of 1968, where she was a member of the Beta Club and song leader of the Bible Club.  Jeanette was a talented pianist and vocalist performing at various churches, with a quartet on radio, and at Red Branch Baptist Church in Carthage, NC.  She served as president of the Ladie’s Ministry at Pentecost Worship Center in Lillington, NC.  Jeanette loved serving others with her gift of hospitality, especially baking and cooking for family and friends.  She was a member of the Erwin Church of God.    

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Bruce Edward West; daughter, Kristie Tyer (Scott); step-daughter, Renee West; brothers, Kenneth Johnson (Cathy), and Randy Johnson; grandchildren, Megan Randall (Angelique), and Jonathan Randall; step-granddaughter, Tiffiany West; and great grandson, Luther Randall. 

A graveside service will be held 4pm Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Harnett Memorial Park, Lillington, NC, with Dr. Rev. Thomas J. Foley and Bishop Tim Cowan, Sr. officiating.  The family will receive friends 2:45pm – 3:45pm prior to the service at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 1310 S. Main St., Lillington, NC 27546.
