James "Jimmy" Wood Obituary

Mr. James “Jimmy” Watson Wood, 75, of Sanford passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at the SECU Jim & Betsy Bryan UNC Hospice Home in Pittsboro. He was born in Lee County, the son of the late Watson and Grace Mason Wood. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his sister, Grace “Tootsie” Parker, brother, Milton Moore, Jr., fur baby, Mindy. Jimmy was an avid Tarheel fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR. He loved to visit friends and neighbors to discuss local events and was known as the “Mayor of Buckhorn”. Jimmy worked and retired from Bryant Electric, High Point for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lois Wood of the home; daughter, Morgan Wood and fiancé, Brian Nipper of Sanford; stepson, Shannon Johnson and wife Becky of West Virginia; grandson, J.C. Nipper; sister-in-law, Thadean Moore, brother-in-law, Jackie Reynolds; nieces, Sherri Parker, Dianne Moore, Donna Hooper, Karen Farr; nephews, Bobby Parker, Greg Parker, Ray Moore; great nieces, Ashley Black, Courtney Butler; great nephews, Hunter Parker, Grant Parker, Blake Parker; great-great niece, Tatum Black; great-great nephew, Gage Black; fur babies, Woodley Mae and Ziva; and many special cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 PM Sunday, May 7, 2023, at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home in Lillington.
