James Christopher “Chris” Sprague, 36, of Lillington, NC passed away Friday October 15, 2021.
He was born October 18, 1984, in Fayetteville, North Carolina to Shelia Coleman Sprague and James Larry Sprague. Chris was preceded in death by his father, James “Jim” Sprague; and his paternal grandparents William “Bill” Sprague and Mary Sprague of Shelby, OH.
Chris was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and even more to his family. He was also a loyal friend to all his peers in his hometown of Lillington and Boone. He had a great sense of humor and easily made friends from all corners of the community. People that met Chris gravitated toward him as he had a strong sense of self-purpose. He loved to stay busy building great things and was a gifted carpenter and tradesman.
Chris was a teacher to many that were fortunate to know him, a student of talented men, and follower of Jesus Christ in his heart. Chris always put a smile on everyone’s face when gathered around for visits with the kids and neighbors. Chris loved to fish, golf, and do outdoor activities with his niece and nephews. You could always find him helping his Granddaddy and his stepdad ‘Nub’ building projects in Harnett County and the surrounding areas. Chris truly had a passion for helping others and those in need. Most of all, Chris cherished the memories he shared with his grandmothers. His grandparents were a very special part of his life.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Shelia Coleman Sprague, and James “Nub” Bordeaux of Lillington; his sister, Natalie Sexton and husband Brian of Conway, SC; his brother, Jonathan Woodell of Lillington; his beloved niece, Sydney Sprague; his nephews, Davis Sexton and Josiah Sexton; his maternal grandparents, Nellie Coleman of Lillington and Sydney Charles Coleman and wife Magdalene of Clayton, NC; his uncle, Sydney Charles “Chuck” Coleman of Lillington; his cousin, Dustin Coleman of Lillington; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins whom he loved dearly.
