James Wade Phillips

Mr. James Wade Phillips, 83, of Erwin passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital in Dunn. He was born in Sampson County, the son of the late Ernest and Isabelle Wade Phillips. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, Mickey Phillips. James owned and operated James W. Phillips Insurance Agency/Nationwide in Lillington for over 40 years.

James is survived by his wife of 63 years, Linda Autry Phillips of the home; daughter, Joelle Adams and husband Steve of Erwin; grandson, Zack Adams and wife Rachel of Dunn; great granddaughter, Elena Marie Tasios and great grandson Colton James Adams; nephew, Dale Phillips of Roxboro; sister-in-law, Lou Phillips of Durham; caregiver, Judith Faircloth; fur babies, Doodle and Bailey.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-6:45 PM Friday, April 18, 2025, at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home in Lillington. A funeral service will follow in the chapel at 7:00 PM with Rev. Thomas Greene officiating. A private graveside will be held at Erwin Memorial Park at a later date.
