James Matthews Obituary

James Michael Matthews, 61, passed away Monday, October 20, 2025 at his home in Lillington, NC. James was born May 5, 1964 in Harnett County to the late Allen Matthews and Carolyn Baker Matthews.

James is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Denise Blackmon Matthews; brother, Jeffrey Matthews; uncle, Jerry Baker and wife, Elaine; and aunt, Faye Arnold; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

James was an avid Duke University sports fan. He enjoyed golfing and fishing. James was a skilled brick mason for over 30 years. He will be greatly missed.

James was a proud veteran of the US Army.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
