James William Martin

James William Martin, 86, passed away March 6, 2025 at Betsy Johnson Hospital.  He was born January 5, 1939 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Maldred Martin and Viola Mahaffey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Curlie Lee Martin; brother, Lee Martin; and daughter, Pamela Britt.

He is survived by children, Tina Bell (Jimmy), Cindy Williamson (Rocky), Jim Martin (Dale), Gary Edwards, Barbara Laws (Jason), Kenneth Martin, and Greg Martin as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

James loved his family.  Throughout his lifetime, he and his wife fostered more than 100 children and cared for them as their own.  James loved golf and made many memories while out on the green.  He had a unique sense of humor.  He was greatly loved and his memory will be cherished.

A memorial service will be held at Garden of Faith, 5190 Fayetteville Road, Lumberton, NC at a later date.
