James Steven Hood Obituary
James Steven Hood, 68, of Bunnlevel, North Carolina
James, known to most as Steve, or Stevie to his precious sister, Debbie; was born to Jetty Roebuck Walker and James Houston Hood, on October 9th, 1957 and passed away in the arms of his son on May 31st, 2026.
Steve was preceded in death by his father James.
He is survived by his beloved son, Wade (Lisa) Hood of Bunnlevel, NC and their children, Ayden, Christian, Cael, and Carmen. His beloved daughter, Heather (Chris) Barnhill of Rocky Point, NC and their children, Cayden and Kyler. His loving mother, Jetty Walker of Bunnlevel, NC. His sister, Debra (Debbie) Obrien of Bunnlevel, NC, brothers, Alan (Al) Hood of Bunnlevel, NC, and Richard (Rick) Hood of Water Valley, Mississippi.
His sister Debbie loves him fiercely. They share an enormous amount of memories. She has always been there to lend a helping hand, even if she did joke about letting go of the wheelchair. You didn't mess with her unless you wanted him to mess with you, and he would mess you up over her!
He and his brother, Al, had such a special bond that reached far beyond just the title of "brother." They shared so many interests, hobbies, and memories that truly made them best friends. As he was protective of his sister, he was equally just as protective of his brothers.
Steve is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins who he loved immensely. They share a very large collective of fun times and adventures. From boating on the lake, to singing karaoke, playing guitar, some late night phone calls, and some we shall not mention. It is safe to say there were many fun times had!
Steve loved big and he loved hard. First, and foremost, he loved the Lord with all of his heart and soul. Steve loved his family in ways the word 'love' can't even describe. He would lay down his own life for those he loved and cared about.
Steve was a very passionate man. He poured his heart and soul into his music. From a young age he taught himself how to play the guitar and wrote his own music. Whether it was a bass guitar, 6 string guitar, drums, or harmonica; Steve could put it all together to make music that came from the heart. If you wanted to know Steve, all you had to do was listen to his songs. He also loved fast cars, making them even faster and louder. He loved being out on his boats and even more so when his family or friends were on board.
Steve is now resting peacefully in the arms of our Lord and Savior, and will be missed and loved by many until we see him again.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
