Jacob Mason Hicks

Mr. Jacob Mason Hicks, 29, of Four Oaks passed away Friday, September 17, 2021. He was born in Cumberland County, the son of Daniel M. Hicks and Frances Wortman McDonald. Jacob was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ivo Wortman, Jr. and paternal grandparents, Mason and Grace Hicks. Jacob was a graduate of Harnett Central High School and East Carolina University. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying many hours of duck hunting, fishing, and paddling down the river. Jacob currently worked with the State Employees’ Credit Union as a Sr. Financial Services Officer.

In addition to his parents, Jacob is survived by his sister, Mary Grace Hicks Fisher and husband Danny and their children, Grayson and Liddy Fisher all of Washington, D.C.; maternal grandmother, Irene Wortman of Lillington; uncle, Ivo “Buddy” Wortman, III and wife Jennifer Russo Wortman and their son, Ivo Anthony “Tony” Wortman all of Arlington, MA; aunts, Jan Engle Hicks of Rocky Mount, Sue Baylor Hicks of Fayetteville; and beloved dog, Dowdy.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Summerville Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Lillington with Rev. Barrett Payne officiating. The family requests everyone in attendance please wear a mask. Friends are invited to visit O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home on Monday, September 20, 2021, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM to sign the guest register book. The family will not be present during this time.
