Mrs. Hilda Bain Hardee, 92, of Lillington passed away Friday, April 17, 2020. She was born in Harnett County, the daughter of the late Evander and Beatrice Henderson Bain. She was preceded in death by her husband John Mack Hardee; son-in-law, Bennie Pollock; sisters, Sarah Odom and Rachel Bain. She was a devoted wife for over 50 years.
Ms. Hardee is well-known for her hard work on her family’s farm, and in her bountiful garden. Until she was no longer able, she enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her flowerbeds. She was also renowned for her cooking, especially her fried chicken and cornbread. Ms. Hardee always enjoyed a trip, whether near or far; she especially enjoyed traveling with family and friends to the beach. Even in her later years, she always enjoyed having visitors to share the day, as she enjoyed spending time with her many friends, children and grandchildren. She was a long-time, active member of Pleasant Union Christian Church in Lillington.
Hilda is survived by her daughters, LaNell Brown (Elliott) and Beverly Pollock both of Lillington; sons, Manfred Hardee (Marilyn) of Fuquay-Varina and Vanise Hardee (Deborah) of Wilson; nine grandchildren, Sonya Brown Rollins, Steven Brown, Sarilyn Hardee Leary, John Hardee, Brooks Hardee Moore, Brandon Hardee, Megan Hardee Eichelberger, Catherine Pollock Griffin, Benjamin Pollock; sixteen great-grandchildren; brother, Edgar R. Bain (Faye) of Lillington.
A private family graveside service will be held at Harnett Memorial Park in Lillington.
